There should be light flashes at that wire with the switch in the "ON" posistion, at both ends of the wire. With no flashes it means there is already a ground in process, as if the swict were "OFF". With flashes on the mag end only I'd have to figure the wire is grounded out somewhere between the mag and switch, essentially having an "OFF" switch in the middle of the wire. Of course, if you take the wire off the mag terminal this whole situation will be eliminated and it'll be able to run, barring further problems.
