Gas Line: There must be a trick

After taking gas line off to clean the carb of my '53 cub, the original brass/copper(?) fuel line no longer sits/seals properly where it connects to the bottom of the fuel tank. I've cleaned both ends and tightened as far as I can, but there's still a very slow leak at that upper connection, flowing down the length of the fuel line, which I'm sure isn't that safe, besides leaving a little puddle in my garage. Is there a sealant/tape/something gas-proof, that I can use to salvage this old/authentic fuel line, so I'm not forced to go out and buy a new one, which I'm sure won't be nearly as aesthetically pleasing as the old metal one? Thanks for the help!
