Sounds like a transmission seal has failed - either the input shaft seal, or more likely the countershaft seal. Both seals are relatively inexpensive, and can be changed without splitting the tractor. But you will need to drop the Liftall (belly) pump to give room to get at 'em, especially the upper (input shaft) seal.

Also if the stuff that leaked out is grey, good idea to completely drain and refill the tranny with fresh gear oil. The stuff you got in there now has water in it.
