Curt, If your not going to be pulling it for all it's got, all the time, then do not put a turbo on it. It will kill the low end and mid range lugging power. It's not worth it, and you probably won't like it either. If you need your tractor in the winter I would recommend you put new, that's right, new valves in it. What kills the starting ability of a diesel is when you grind the valves and seats it sets the valve that much farther back in the head, lowering compression. I would say if it isn't an oil tanker you could probably get by with a set of rings. The sleeves on these engines will run forever. If you can see the cross-hatch in the liners and there is no noticeable ridge at the top of them, I would re-ring it. A set of injectors and pump may also be in order. Good luck Matthew in SD
