Some discs are far more effective than others. If you look at IH sales literature from early eighties. their discs run all the way from 350 pounds per disc blade to well over 500 lbs per blade. Probably 350 pounds per disc will take 3/4 hp per disc. A 500 lb. per disk will use 1.5 hp per disc. And yes depth of cut is going to definately make a difference. When you go to auctions, at least here, there are a lot of worn out 40 blade discs that a Farmall A would pull.
