Hi all, I recently took the plunge and became the owner of a '55 400 Diesel that leaks diesel like a sieve but runs really well ;-). I don't have much (any) experience with driving one, and I was startled this weekend by a sound on it that I don't know is normal or not. When I'm engaging a drive gear (forward or reverse), and I come off the clutch a little fast, as soon as torque is applied to the rear axle, I hear a loud ka-chunk right underneath me...particularly on the right side. It sounds almost like a really loud snap. Everything works just fine, it's got plenty of power and I dragged a boat and trailer through an uphill, sandy beach without any problem. I suspect it's just the drive gears getting engaged with lots of sudden power (it doesn't happen when I'm softer on the clutch pedal release). Still, I'm not sure if this should be a concern to me or something that is expected. Any words of wisdom from those with experience? Many thanks, - David
