When my dad and I bought 560D the 06 series were already out, it was remaining stock and we got a good buy or so we thought. We were farming 40 cow 200 acre dairy farm with Farmalls 130, 300 and a Cockshutt 540. We added 560D which seemed like a big tractor back then. Within one year cow herd and land base were on rise, needed more hp, money was not there to trade again that soon. (should have bought a 806 in beginning) 560D was turned on pump to put out 90-100 hp no turbo. It was run that way from 500 hour mark onward. It didn't surprise me that I had problems at the 7500 hour mark. What did surprise me was how well it worked right to the day it started missing. The 656D I mentioned had been purchased with additional farm had same engine turning rated hp. Even at 7498 hour mark there was never a question of switching on forage harvester. Tractor later ran to 11000 hour mark and had been given the easy life so to speak, with the purchase of a new 1066 in 1975. From then foreward 560s heavy work was filling 3 tower silos on blower. One day on blower at 11000 hours it came apart and two pistons came through block. I was not present but I suspect help were changing wagons quick and left 560 running full throttle. When I arrived I could see silage flow had just begun and tractor would not have been under full load. My advice is do take time to fix your 560 right, I personally would not look anywhere but CaseIH for parts. The engine is your tractors heart, skimp else where on tractor but not engine. It will reward you with many many years of faithful service. You are working tractor as was intended, it could be around when you are gone even if you live to be a 110 years.

Talk of the Town: Winterizing Engines - To Drain or Not to Drain? - by Russ Berry. What is this strange attraction I have to equipment and machinery? How did I get this way? I came from the suburbs and own a small horse farm in rural Loudoun County, Virginia. You can call me a "weekend farmer." The local farmers do. Does it bother me? No. I am just happy to have their friendship. At least the word "farmer" is in my title. But what is the attraction? How can I explain the sensation and exhilaration I feel when I turn the key and hear the engine come to life (most
