Once you have Brazed or (soldered) metal, it is in the pores so to speak,and it cannot be welded as it will bubble up and be pourous.You may be able to cut that area out and weld in a patch.
it sounds like from your description, that you are having a problem with the "brazing" not sticking. the surfaces must be clean like soldering, and use brazing flux, you must use sufficient heat as to "flow" the brazing rod into the metal just like "sweating" a solder joint.
the metal sort of obsorbes(sp.) it so to speak.
That being said, I have seen times where I have had cracking of a pan that was brazed if the repair was in a large area like in the bottom.
Brass(brazing) seems not to give as much as the metal so it will "fracture" upon cooling. I have used silver solder and I have had good luck repairing pans that have cracked. also I sometimes use regular solder and it is ok. In your case, I would heat the area and "wipe/brush the area clean of brass, (you won't get it all) it's not nessary, and silver solder it. remember tho' the area must be clean as in regular soldering.
