I did research. My work was mostly a comparison of wheat, corn, grain sorghum, sunflowers, and soybean, in different rotations with various levels of tillage and herbicides. I took several thousand soil samples (at one foot intervals to a depth of six feet) a year and related the soil water content in each plot to crop water use and yield. The tractor driving was really only a small part of it. My point was I used "large" equipment so I could get done and do the thing I got paid for which was to interpret and write up the data for both farmers and other scientists (writing was the hard part). I didn't want to piddle around with a Super A all day when I could do the same thing with a larger tractor in a couple of hours. I'm not a scientist anymore so now I can piddle around with my small tractors, which is nore fun.
