We did a conversion from gas to diesel in a 756 a few years back using the D310 german from a 715 combine. This is a very close set-up to an 826. But i would never change from diesel to gas. Were sure glad that 6 cylinder gas "Hog" is gone.

We also have a 826 with the D358 and i know they don't like cold weather. So the odd time we do use it in the winter. We plug it in for an 1-1/2 to 2 hrs and she starts without any either. The conversion is alot of work more than doing an engine overhaul. Stick with the german diesel. You won't get better fuel economy anywere.

Our 826 now has high hours and is running a little dirt and using some oil, a few oil leaks. But what can we expect for a tractor that is getting close to the 10000 hrs, This spring she still pulled a 15ft IH 5400 Yetter cart no-till drill with a packers behind ,planting around 400 acres of soybean. Were debating on giving it a full overhaul this winter, We hear there pricy to overhaul ,but if she still does the work of a new one. The repairs would be cheap. And sonner than later she will be worth more as an antique.
