If you are using the standard heat range plugs, replace them with plugs at least two heat ranges hotter. Also, reset the idle and high speed jets in the carb to eliminate the rich mixture. The crappy gas we get today will carbon foul plugs in less than a minute if the mixture is too rich, and in a day of work or so if correct. I am using Champion D-21 plugs in my M and haven't had any problems since I installed them. The standard heat range for the M is a D-15. Others seem to think that A-C or Autolite plugs don't foul as quickly, but I haven't tried them yet.
