You are very right, almost 50 years has gone by and there has been a lot of backyard manfacturing and re-manufacturing done. A lot of these guys will swear it is a factory original or one of a kind. Since you worked at Farmall works let me run this one by you. A rumour I have heard is, the only reason the Super MTA was ever produced was to use up some Super M sheet metal. Lets face it the rest of the tractor is basically Farmall 400. Local dealer told me there was some awfully good buys on SM sheet metal even into late 50s. Another example, Excel cabs used on 56 series and early 66 series, could be bought from IH dealers in my area in late 1975 for $500. brand new and complete with heater.
