John - Congratulations on a successful conversion! Regarding your problem of the motor running on after the ign switch is turned off, did you include a warning light between the alternator #1 terminal and the coil side of the ign switch? If not, enough current will backfeed from the #1 terminal to the fire the coil and thus keep the motor running after the ign switch is opened. (The warning light adds enough resistance to the circuit to prevent the coil from firing with the ign switch off...) However your solution of using a double pole switch will solve the problem too.
