Does it have the American D-360 engine or the German D-358? We run a 1982 786 with the German Diesel (with 7200 hours, never had any engine work, still pulls like new), and it's the easiest starting diesel ever. IH changed to higher-compression pistons in the German Diesels for the 86 series, and they start 10 times easier than the older ones. I would highly reccomend buying the 886, especally if it has the D-358. These tractors feel like they're putting out quite a bit more horsepower than they're rated at.
