My parts books says they changed the filter size at 121022. That is during 1942. Early filter was long, later was short. Take the parts man your serial number. Unless there is something weird going on, yours and Michael's should take the same filter. They originally made a normal and a heavy duty filter (in both lengths). Don't know if they do now or not. Shouldn't make any difference. I have a 1941 H which takes the long filter. Are you sure you did not install it upside down? I do things like that sometimes!
