There is a company in Kansas City Missouri, Mega-Torque, where you can get just the regulator if you want to build your own from a Delco Delcotron alternator. I've built several for friends who have old cars. Price varies depending on the mood of the guy behind the counter. I'd suggest the following format for conversation. First, mention that you heard he has these regulators, when he says yes, don't ask about price right away. Make a little small talk about old tractors/cars, then steer him around to price after a few minutes. I've paid a range of $10 to $20 for them, and the cheaper ones were after an extended face-to-face conversation over the counter. Phone pricing might be different. The regulator is real easy to install in the alternator, and I've not had a failure yet. Mega-Torque phone number is 816-231-7032 He can also rewind 6-volt starters to 12-volt, and rebuild your existing generator is you want to keep it.
