The problem is that the spring and rolleron the shifter cam has broken and that is sorta and easy fix , you will need a top cover gskt. and a side plate gskt ., one or two rollers and a spring . It helps if you have someone help ya , first remove the deck plate unhook your linkage and remove any hdy. lines that are in the way unhook the park linkage best to put the tractor on a lean to the right , like put a 6x6 under the left rear tire then remove the side plate on the left side of the rear houseing you will lose about one gal of hytran this will give you axcess to the reverse shifting fork this is where a second set of hands come in then remove the bolts from the top cover use a stiff bladed putty knife to break lose the top cover ( if you have a spring loaded park lock you must make sure that you have it in the out of park posisionand blocked up with a 3/4 inch spacer i myself use a 1/2 inch nut up on end) if it is the old style don't worry about it just pry evenly up and have you buddy watch the rev shift fork and grab it as it falls out this is a good time to check it for ware pay close attenshion to the rev shifter shaft and key way as it may be wore and you may lose the key if the key is not tight in the shaft then this make for a real had to find rev. this is the time to replaceany woren parts also replace all the headed pins in the shift linkage . I have done many of these.
