Don't remove the screen, and to clean them just cut the end off a bit, blow it out good and then roll the end back up a bit. Some tractors gave problems when new and then they improved the teledepth valve so it usually wasn't until they had a lot of hours on them that they would go on demand and stay there. The only way you can tell if wear is a problem is if the .031 orfice will not keep system off demand, (neutral if you will) after system is warmed up. Of course if you get the orfice too large it will not go on demand to lift load. If orfice is not screwed in tight it will leak around threads and not go on demand. I would sure want a gauge in pump outlet to observe pressure and pulsations. Those hitch valves can drive you crazy.
