H generator charging ?'s

I had my gen. checked a local shop and they said it was ok. I've completely re-wired this tractor. I polarized the generator today. B to G terminals. I have a 4 position switch. When running engine in the low position the amp gauge reads a few amps discharge. Then when I switch to high the gauge reads 5 amps charge. Are these normal readings? I did not replace the switch or the reg./relay. Points are closed in the relay on low or high. normal? I wired per Bob M.'s diagram. Thanks for any help and send rain!!!!!
