I have an uncle who worked for IH in Chicago and just saw him last weekend. He looked at my 656 and as soon as he saw the engine he asked if it was a 261.I had told him it was a C263 and he then replied that he knew that there were engines IH used for both trucks and tractors. He said he didn't remember exactly how it was but a single number in the engine model number used to identify truck or tractor version of the same engine.Thought this might help a little.
