H Belt Pulley Housing

I've scarfed a belt pulley housing off of my parts H to be installed on my restoration project. From what I can tell, it engages okay but I wont know for sure until I get some power to it. Would there be any reason to flush the old gear oil out with diesel and refill with fresh gear oil? Red, got the water pump assembly apart, and ordered all new packing, bearings, and seals. The impeller shaft is a little worn in places..any big deal?
