Sounds like the starter to me. Mine acted like this, I would see a drop on amp gauge and hear like a little thump sound from the starter. Batt. was at full charge. One day thought I would stay on the starter swith to see if it would turn over if given some time. After about 10 sec all the smoke came out of it and there was no putting the smoke back in it. About $90 for a rebuild but she sure fires over now.
