I would look first at battery cables, check cleaness. Make sure cables haven't been replaced with lighter ones. That dual six volt draws a lot of amps. Second, remove solinoid, take end cap off, clean corosion off brass ring and terminals it contacts. Those terminals are reversable if it hasn't allready been done. I have pulled the end cap in field and used file on brass ring on numerous ocasions. I once filed one and had it go longer than from new to fileing. As for Kohler, I can't say, probably corosion some where.
