Standard decal on WD-9

This is a long story on a minor thing so skip it if you wish. Last week I posted a picture on this forum of my WD-9 at its first show. So first, thanks for all the compliments. But second, some of the replies to my posting brought comments about the decals on the tractor. Specifically, the word "Standard". My tractor, a 1950 model, did not originally have the word Standard on it. But one reader in this forum sent me a picture from the International Harvester Photographic History book clearing showing a WD-9 with Standard on it (thanks again, Will). So that made me think, I have old pictures from the Nebraska test results. I got them out and it shows a 1949 model WD-9 being tested in June of 1950 with no Standard decal. But the May 1954 test of the Super WD-9 shows Standard on it. My owner's manual, which indicates it is for serial numbers 39947 and higher (1949) shows pictures with Standard on the tractor. So I think my question is does anyone know why there seems to be some inconsistency in this? As for my tractor, I think I will put Standard on it. It adds just a little bit more of nice detail. I have proof it would be right. But there is also proof it should be left off so if anyone has a definitive answer as to what determined whether Standard would be on or not I would be interested in hearing. Thanks much for reading all this.
