If your compression is good and even, why mess with it? Look cylinder #4 over very closely, as some of the material from the valve may have spent a little time rattling around in the cylinder, even though it was an exhaust valve that failed. If the bore and piston look okay, you'll probably be fine. As far as the carbon goes, unless it is really excessive, it may not be a problem either. As you remove it by rubbing it off, dissolving it or scraping it etc, it's going to work it's way down between the piston and cylinder wall into the rings. Plus, within about a hour of startup, the pistons are going to have carbon on them again anyway. I know it's nice to look down at nice shiny pistons and bores, but usually it's really not worth the trouble. My two cents.
