I recall that the inner seal is pressed into axle housing outboard of the inner axle bearing.Not sure you have enough clearance to slide axle away from the case...bull gear is right there.I would recommend removing bull gear and remove axle and housing.Clean old gasket and if no gasket is available, I use the liquid Gasket maker....Cat makes a good one....I would invest the time into new seal also while your there.....bearing is not bad investment either....I just don't like doing it twice....
