My 1947 I-4 was retrofitted with a distributor at one time in it's life. I am trying to correctly set ignition timing. The 2 shop manuals I have refer only to magneto timing. There is a pointer at the front of the motor above the crank pulley, and 2 sets of marks on the pulley. Trying to align any of these marks with the pointer retards the motor and it makes no power. The points appear to be set at around 0.25". There's got to be a simple way to do this..... anyone have a suggestion? Thanks.
