Thanks for your responses guys. I mowed all 7 acres early this year. The lot is broken into two parts, 3 acres and 4 acres. On one half after the first mowing the grass took over is spreading nicely. I mowed around it a second time to thin the weeds but left the lush grass. This is where the house is going. The back half is a different story, the weeds just keep coming back, no grass is there to start growing again. It also has some ruts and washouts starting to develop. So I figured I would plow and disk it to level it off and get the grass started with seed. It has sat for 5 years, no mowing, no nothing was done to it. I don't have access to a planter or anything to harvest corn or beans with. I thought about putting in some good alfalfa, the land around mine makes great hay, but again I don't have a drill, rake, baler, etc. And haven't pursued finding someone to do the work for me. So I think a good grass pasture will serve me and my goat well Thanks again..
