You have just raised a good point, in statment you and your goat. Goats, sheep and horses are great grazers for uniformly eating pasture thus they kill a lot of weeds. Cows on the other hand tend to leave clumps and not graze so close. On the other hand if it is rough and needs levelling. You don't have a plow, cultivator or disc, put an electric fence around it and get about 3 young pigs to the acre. Start in spring and this sod along with some suplement and you will have your ground well tilled and 3 fat hogs per acre, by fall. Then just get a levelling harrow and a shoulder strap grass seed seeder. Then you can trade your hogs for goats, sheep or horses. You guys may laugh, this advise is comming from a retired farmer who had 175 holsteins, 500 acres cultiveted and every machine in the ag books. It is a very cheap and effective fix on small acres. Don't forget the soil test and fertility.
