My last name isn't Firestone or Goodyear, but when there is a tire question I look in my Miller tire catalog, and while I hate agreeing with dead men, and realizing that the catalog may not be all inclusive, I "think" the 15.5-38 had no other size equivalent, at least they don't list one. It apparently falls between the 13-38 and 15-38. A 14 inch tread width converts to a 16.9 cross section. That makes a 15.5 cross section a 13 and some fraction tread width. Since (as far as I know) the old tire sizes were whole numbers there is no "old" equivalent of a 15.5. Miller only lists a 15.5 in a 38 inch rim diameter. I'm sure no one really wants to know this.
