You might recall my little "experiment" where I tried to see if my Farmall H would run if flipped on its back. Boy those parts on top sure were soft and not many survived the experience. Well the good news is that after 11 months of rebuilding or replacing nearly everything you can think of, I started her up and went for a ride around the block last night. She still burns oil, but the rebuild will have to wait untill next year when I have a little more money and confidence. Right now I'm looking to rewire everything. The original conversion is a real mess with too much wrong with it to go into here. Essentially I'm starting from scratch. Several of you have commented on how the smaller Nippon Denso alternator will fit nicely into the generator bracket and under the hood of an H. My problem is that I'm having some trouble locating the correct Denso alternator. Does anyone know the year and model car(s) the correct alternator will fit? Or perhaps even a part number? Failing that, if someone knows the critical dimensions of the unit I could go to the parts store and see if I couldn't match them up. I believe that Haas has used this alternator in one of his conversions and Bob M may have commented on them as well. As always, I would really appreciate any information or help you can offer. Thanks.
