Thanks for responding so quickly. The only problem is that the 6v starter on the tractor hasn't worked since the 1950's and my grandfather has been starting it by hand or catching it in gear since then. Could the starter drive still be jammed? This is the first tractor I have ever attempted to rebuild and I don't just want to jump into tearing things apart. My grandpap also said that before he left it sit for the winter, he took out the spark plugs and sprayed WD 40 onto the cylinders. I once had the firing pin on my deer rifle fail because it was gummed up with WD 40. Could this have seized things up? I talked to a guy at the county fair about a month ago who recommended taking out the spark plugs and pouring kerosene onto the cylinders. He said to let it sit for a week and then put it in gear and rock it back and forth. It didn't work. What next?
