bryce, i had the same problem with my h.i cant remember now just what all i had to do to get that pilot bearing back in. but one thing for sure you want to check and check real well is that there is no bearings under the bull gear. there is just a wee bit of space between the housing and the gear its self and a bearing could be hiding under there. also , i believe you have to push the axle out.perhaps not. good luck with your project.
