Hi all, After a 10 year wait, I've finally drug in a life long want out of a brushpile in Oklahoma. A 49 Farmall H # FBH 316862X1. The story was it set for two years and that did run then. As soon as I seen it I started doubting the veracity of my new friend the owner. The exhaust was uncapped and rain got in it. I loaded it and brought it home, (cost me 400 bucks). My girl was soooo proud !! Since I was worryed about hydrostatic lock I didn't even try it, Pulled the plugs, all were loose, Number 3 plug was rusted and the electrode was mashed shut, Uhoh, checked the lower drain petcock and here comes water, Awww man... pulled the drain plug and here comes 7 gallons of water and antifreeze (That's not good) and no oil at all. Somebody has been here before. Made a half hearted attempt to turn the engine over with a pipe wrench but she's froze. Pulled the oil pan and head, I don't see any sign of a head gasket blown or a cracked head so I now I'm afraid of water sitting on top of closed valves and maybe frozen and cracked a seat or worse maybe the block is cracked within. So I'm asking the experts as this is my first one... Are there any prone points maybe for a cracked block or head before I start rebuilding this thing ? I've left the cylinders full of diesel for tonight and then I'll clean them out in the morning and fill them with ATF. I'll also pull the side plate and look at the cylinders as best I can per some of the excellent advice within your archives. As I have to go out to Colorado for a couple of weeks so it will have time to soak. I'm taking the head with me to clean, surface and valve job. I'm a mechanic but this is the first I've played with one of these. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to build an engine and then find out I have a crack in the block or head. Thank you
