If you pull the choke out when it starts to die does that have any effect? If chokig helps keep it running I'd look for a fuel restriction between the tank and carb. Another thing that comes to mind is a timing problem, I cnat remember which but either too far advanced or retarded wil change the compression enough to make cranking hard especially when hot.
