That is what is happening , How much piston to wall clearance do you have ? What is the total timing at full throttel ? are you sure that you have good fuel flow from the tank to carb? as a lean mixture will cause extra high temps in the comb. chambers at peek conbustion (lean is mean) , is there good flow thru the radiator? How many hours run time do you have on the engine? did you size each piston to the bore? Is the end gap on the ring set ? Did you use cast iron pistons? or did you update to the alu. pistons that are used in the 184's ?
