MWKellner, the best way to do fuel lines is as the tractors came from the factory with a coil in the line. The loops will give the line enough flex for you to work with it and it gives the lines endurance to the natural vibrations of the tractor. The H's and M's had a coil of line that would be at least three coils. I would use a soup can to wind the line around( about the right size of the coil), then you can cut off and furl the ends( after you have slipped the compression nuts on the line). The coil flexes enough to give you more or less line at the fitting while you are lining it up, as well as movement to get the compression nut started straight. Now I will likely start a debate here but my M and two H's have copper lines for fuel...some say these tractors should have steel lines, I am sure our M came with copper from the factory, all the H's I have ever dealt with had copper...you suit yourself and the best of luck from Mike in Exeter Ontario
