What you are saying about the smoke coming out around the dipstick when it comes under load makes me suspect that your rings are worn out and you have low compression. A compression test can confirm this. Sounds to me like the engine is plain worn out.

If and when you get the tractor running again, take the radiator cap off. If there are bubbles you may have a blown head gasket or cracked block. Hope this helps to get you started. Don't be afraid to ask more questions!
