I put new sleeves and pistons in my stuck M this winter. I did NOT remove the block from the tractor and did not find it necessary to do so. Simply get a 1" dowel and a dead blow hammer. Disconnect rod caps and beat them out of the top of the bore, took me one afternoon to remove the pistons, two were stuck TIGHT! Just to let you know how stuck they get, I even tried putting a bottle jack under the piston and pumping it up. The entire tractor lifted off the ground! At that point, since the piston was stuck at TDC I hit the top of the piston as HARD, I MEAN AS HARD as I could with the dead blow hammer. That moved it about .5 mm, enough to beat it out of the top. I really don't see how removing the block would have helped free the piston?
