Actually a higher-octane fuel in itself will do nothing to "clean out" your engine(versus fresh low octane fuel). Higher octane is basically just a slower-burning fuel, used to prevent pre-ignition and detonation in high compression engines. I drive race cars, and a little "speed trick" I've heard is to run the lowest octane fuel your engine will stand without detonation. The lower octane fuel has more oxygen content, thus burning stronger and creating more power. For your application, any new fresh fuel will help(assuming the fuel in the tank now is old), and there are additives that you can put in that are supposed to help "clean things out", though I've never tried them.
