Instead of doing a temporary patch why not fix the rims longterm by doing the following. Locate a old truck or tractor rim that has the same shape as the area around the valve stem. From the donor rim, torch out a replacement piece the size of the damage. Using the replacement piece as a pattern, mark the damaged area and torch this out. Grind the area to fit and have the piece welded in place. Now move to an area away from the fix and drill a new valve stem hole in a corresponding location as to the old stem hole location. Sand and fill if required and then paint the rims. Henceforth use non corroding antifreeze as fluid.
