If it junps the safety gap the mag internally is good(if the safety gap is set properly). It still has to get through the brush at top of distributor to the distributor disk and through more brushes to plug wire.(a deep grove in the disk is not good). It should fire a good plug set at .018.
If mag is weak remember the retarded spark start position gives the weakest spark.(E-Gap and all that). Full advance is the only setting that gives max spark. Don't try to hand start with timing advanced but pulling off is ok. If all this is good ck mag timing to engine ect. You do feel compression on all 4 when cranking??
