Krey - Sounds like you have a "one wire" 10SI alternator. This requires no external wiring to start/control alternator operation. A standard 3-wire 10SI on the other hand requires switched 12 volts at the #1 terminal (to turn on/shutdown regulator), and unswitched 12 volts at the #2 aux terminal (for the internal regulator to sense system voltage). If a lamp is inserted in the line between the ign switch and the #1 terminal, it will serve as a charging system warning lamp, same as in the dash in your car. The lamp will light if the system stops charging (broken drive belt, alternator failure, etc) On a 3-wire setup, if you don't want a warning light you must substitute either a resistor or a diode in place of the light. If you DON'T have one of the above, the #1 terminal will backfeed 12 volts to the coil side of the ignition switch when you try to shut the engine down. This will make the motor to continue to run after the ign is switched "off".
