Steve - Looks to me like an IHC UD-24 power unit modified for marine use. The UD-24 displaces 1,091 cubic inches and is rated around 200 HP at the flywheel. There was also a smaller 6 cylinder gas-start diesel, the UD-18. It displaced 817(?) cubic inches and it's flywheel HP was in the 150 HP range I believe The UD-24 powered the Int'l TD-24 crawler - about the same size and HP as the early Cat D-8 crawlers. Never heard of a Cat D-8 with an IHC diesel however. Nice looking tug BTW!! ...Bob M
