When blocks are hot tanked, all the oil galleries are cleaned as well. The machine shop will remove all the plugs. Your shop forgot to replace one. It is probably the 1/8 inch pipe plug in the tappet chamber. Remove the side plate that is approximately 14" x 3" and located behind the carb. Shine a flashlite in there and you will find the hole between the 2nd and 3rd cylinder. The very same thing happened to me. I discovered the problem before any damage occured because I always pressure lube a new motor before cranking it over. If the oil runs out of the pressure tank too quickly I know that there is a problem. If you do another motor I suggest you find another machine shop. There is no excuse for the rebuilder to have an extra pipe plug sitting in the parts pan.
