A little trick I did with that seal was I wrapped the splines with electrical tape and then greased liberally. Seal slide down shaft nicely and didn't have to worry about nicks. Putting that pto shaft back in place will be tricky but can be done. I put mine back in with top cover off so I don't know the trick to it. may take a second person to hold a light up in there to see where you're at. Good Luck, Mike
