I like to pysically watch the #1 piston as I'm slowly cranking the engine on #1 comp. stroke. Idon't like using the mark on the flywheel. Pull all your plugs and with a small mag lite crank #1 very slowly on its compression stroke while watching your piston. Your impulse should trip right at TDC. Then you know for sure. Good luck.
