What is it used for?

I bought a Farmall 400 two wednesdays ago and am still waiting for it to be delivered. It has a two point on it wich I wanted but on the front pivot point, under the belly, of the two point is a cylender that moves it up and down. I can't figure out what it would be needed for unless for adjusting a cultivator? I realy don't need it, I will just end up taking it off for the tractor pull next year. Hope i get the tracor soon, it's been too long!
