I just went through about the same thing with my A. After about the same amount of time my oil preasure would droup out to O psi. I'll tell the steps that I went through.
1.First I made sure my guage was good(I put a guage that I could see the psi.).
2.Next I pulled the oil pump off and it looked ok but I put it through a test. If you have some parts cleanne submurge only the oil pickup screan into the cleanner and put your finger over the outlet and spin the gear. As you spin the gear, look at the botton cover to see if the cleanner is comming from around it. What had happened to mine was the bottom cover was warped and the gasket was blown. Mine was warped so bad it wouldn't even pick up the cleanner,so I had to submurge the whole pump to prime it and after I did it just all sprayed out the sides. So what was happening was it would have oil preasute when the oil was cold, but when it got hot all the oil was going around the cover.
3.To fix it,all I did was get a sheet of sandpaper and a flat surface and reface it. If it's bad it might take awhile. After I got it refaced and reinstalled, now cold it has 40 psi and after it gets hot 18psi. So I'm happy with the outcome.
Hope this will help you,let me know if it does.
