My dad purchased a new W4 in 1942 and was able to get front tires. For the rear he bought both steel and wheels and rims for when he could get tires. They didn't get the tires until sometime in late 45 or 46. I think you will find a lot of tractors had what your tractor has had done to it. I remember my dad saying how tractors would arrive at dealer (and this is in Canada) on the rims or on steel. Some places dealers were able to find a full set of tires, while others could only find front and some none. Had a lot to do with how well conected dealer was in government circles.
